ITS Charity Golf Tournament- Spotlight on the Jason Michael Hilty Memorial Scholarship

We are having our 12th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on May 10th, 2018. It will be held on the Judge Course at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Prattville, AL. The golf tournament is held to benefit the following charities through donations and sponsorships for the event:

  • Family Sunshine Center
  • The Imagination Library of Elmore County
  • The Jason Michael Hilty Memorial Scholarship
  • Coosa Outdoor Worship Spot (COWS)

In this charity spotlight, we are highlighting the Jason Michael Hilty Memorial Scholarship that honors Jason Hilty, a graduate from Wetumpka High School.

The Jason Michael Hilty Memorial Scholarship was created in honor of Jason Michael Hilty. Jason graduated from Wetumpka High School in 2008. He passed away in 2008 at the age of 19 while he was a student at Auburn University. The Jason Michael Hilty Memorial Scholarship was created in remembrance of Jason and to assist students and their parents in paying for college.

Below is a note from Alisha, a recipient of the Jason Michael Hilty Scholarship, on how the scholarship affected her personally.

“I was the first recipient of the Jason Michael Hilty Scholarship Award. It had a huge effect on my life more so than my college education. I was in no way prepared to pay for college, so the scholarship helped tremendously in that way. However, it meant more to me as an individual than anything else. Jason was more than a friend to me. He was basically family. To receive an award named after him was an honor and is something I have cherished ever since.

I love Jason and his family so much and I would give the money back immediately if it meant he could still be here with us, but I am beyond grateful for the scholarship committee that chose me that day to be given an award that allowed me to keep a piece of him with me for the rest of my life.”

Wetumpka High School seniors with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a minimum ACT score of 21 who submit an essay outlining their college and career goals are eligible for this scholarship. Visit the Elmore County Community Foundation for more information.
